Owners of an Apple iPhone can now search for information about the location they are in simply by taking a photograph of it.
Milan Broum, a software engineer at Google and author of the latest Mobile Blog by the company, says the Google Goggles technology has been extended to be part of the Google Mobile app.
Those with an iPhone who want to check out the new feature simply need to tap on the camera button when they want details on their position.
Google Goggles will analyse the picture taken and scan it for sights it recognises, with users able to click on these for more information.
The app is free and may even persuade some consumers to trade-in their used phone and put the cash towards an iPhone.
Apple's most-recent incarnation of the handset is the iPhone 4, which was rolled out across the UK and four other countries on June 24th.
