New research from comScore has shown that mobile gaming continues to grow in popularity.
According to the technology research specialist, in February, there was a 55 per cent increase in the number of smartphone owners across Europe who has have at least one gaming title loaded onto their devices.
The total number of people playing games on their mobile phones in France, Germany, the UK, Spain and Italy stands at 42 per cent.
A similar upward trend was noted for Facebook’s integrated games, which have been gaining in popularity rapidly.
Hesham Al-Jehani, comScore Europe product manager for mobile, said: “The rise in mobile gaming is being propelled by the rapid adoption of smartphones and the vast ecosystems of game apps they provide.”
He added that the key to the ongoing success of mobile gaming was that ever more sophisticated mobile phones were allowing form increasingly complex and visually pleasing games.
One of the most popular mobile games doing the rounds at the moment is Angry Birds, which has won Best Game at the Carphone Warehouse Appys for the second year running.
