Consumers looking to trade-in a mobile phone at some point during the rest of 2010 may wish to consider the BlackBerry Bold 9780 as a replacement.

According to Asavin Wattanajantra, writing for CNET UK, the smartphone will definitely be available through T-Mobile by Christmas.

This follows a promise by the company, which has made an effort to jump ahead of Research in Motion (RIM) in the race to drum up sales and interest.

People wondering what the model will be like should consider it as an update of the Bold 9700, featuring the same qwerty keypad, while adding a five-megapixel camera, the author explains.

In addition, it will run on the brand new BlackBerry 6 operating system, perhaps ensuring faster speeds, an enhanced browsing service and more advanced apps.

In other news this week, RIM has completed the launch of the BlackBerry Torch smartphone in Hong Kong and India.
