Those with one of the latest mobile phones, such as a BlackBerry or HTC handset, will soon be able to enjoy the day's Google doodles, it has been announced.

The topical illustrations that adorn the search engine's homepage have previously been available only to those accessing the portal via a computer, explains Steve Kanefsky, software engineer and author of the latest Google Mobile Blog.

However, the company has worked hard to provide mobile adaptations, which will begin when they are rolled out to those with devices running on either the Android 2.0+ or iOS 3.0+ operating systems.

Almost all of the pictures Google chooses for its website will now be shown on mobile screens around the country, writes Mr Kanefsky.

A recent post on the same online publication explained Google is once again offering mobile users access to a Santa tracking device, showing where the Christmas character is in the world on December 24th.
