A new survey has suggested the number of people interested in recycling mobile phones has grown.

The Nielsen Company report listed Mazuma Mobile as one of the companies responsible for helping the portable telecommunications sector see overall growth of 58 per cent in the last year.

Figures for July 2009 also revealed that the firm had witnessed a year-on-year increase of 357 per cent on 2008, with around 400,000 unique hits recorded during the month.

Other mobile phone websites that contributed to the market being confirmed as the fastest-growing was that of Finnish manufacture Nokia, which witnessed a rise of 203 per cent.

Vodafone was able to record an increase in consumer interest of 91 per cent, while its rival O2 saw a 79 per cent boost in terms of online visits.

Exclusive handsets from the operators – such as the HTC Magic and Apple iPhone 3G S respectively – could be one contributing factor to the positive results.
