Mazuma has introduced a data deletion tool that promises to get rid of any personal information prior to mobile phone recycling.
The company says that when consumers trade-in their handsets for cash, there could still be sensitive details left on it, because more and more people are using their mobiles to store things like Pin numbers and bank passwords.
Unfortunately, not all manufacturers give proper instructions on how to erase such information, Mazuma explained.
However, by providing the tools needed to delete data, Mazuma is empowering customers and giving them "complete piece of mind", said managing director Charlo Carabott.
"Mazuma customers have always been assured that not only do they get the best trade-in price for their old phone but their handsets are safely redistributed for reuse to developing countries via approved partners," he added.
The gadget is available online and is expected to include guidance for all makes and models of mobile by next month.
Of course, recycling your mobile phone is a great way to generate some cash to put towards your next one. New handsets unveiled this month might be worth considering – these include the Sony Ericsson W205 and S312.
