LG Electronics MobileComm USA is set to showcase a wide-range of technology at CTIA Wireless 2010, which will reveal to consumers what the handset maker’s future holds.

As part of its LG ecoMobilization programme, the manufacturer will encourage mobile phone recycling.

People can play on a large touchscreen to discover what components of a mobile phone can be recycled and also learn about the process.

During the tests individuals will build up points and are then prompted to donate them to one of three causes LG is supporting: its ecoMobilization programme, Save the Music Foundation or the Environmental Defense Fund.

"As a lifestyle company, we seek to enrich our customers’ lives not only by developing feature-rich handsets, but by also reaching them in meaningful ways and where they spend most of their time," explained corporate vice-president of marketing and innovation for LG mobile phones Ehtisham Rabbani.

Mobile phone recycling was also recently in the spotlight in the UK after the Environment Agency reminded certain businesses of their responsibilities under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations.
