Flat-screen manufacturer LG Display has confirmed that mass production of a new thinner display remains in line with product release plans.

It is widely speculated that the new screen will be used on the new iPhone, which is expected to be released on September 12th.

Apple is planning a major product launch on September 12th, which has stoked speculation that the latest smartphone from the company would be launched.

It is expected to equip the mobile phone with a larger screen after Samsung’s latest Galaxy smartphone launched with a 4.8-inch touchscreen.

Sources close to the matter have told Reuters new agency that the panels for the new iPhone will be four inches from corner to corner, which is a 30 per cent increase on current devices.

LG Display chief executive Han Sang-beom told reporters about the new screen: “We just began mass production and we don’t expect any disruption in supplies.”
