Specs for the LG Optimus Vu 2 smartphone-come-tablet device have apparently been leaked.

The Optimus Vu was only recently unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012. The ‘phablet’ should be available in the UK later this year.

However, it seems that the South Korean company is already planning to manufacture a successor to the Optimuis Vu.

Phablets are becoming increasingly popular as consumers look to get more out of their smartphones.

A larger screen makes browsing the web more convenient, which is a huge draw for gadget-lovers.

The original device has a five-inch, 1,024×768 resolution touchscreen with an unusual 4:3 aspect ratio, which the Vu 2 will retain.

The first generation gadget packs 32 GB of storage, 1 GB of RAM and is powered by Android Gingerbread.

The second instalment will receive a RAM upgrade to 2 GB and the Google operating system will be the newer Ice Cream Sandwich version.

The battery will also be slightly improved from 2,080 mAH to 2,150 mAh.
