Consumers considering mobile recycling in order to get cash for an upgrade could be tempted to do so to get their hands on a new Android mobile from manufacturer LG.

The company’s GW260 will be available to UK customers through Virgin Mobile and T-Mobile.

"Our smartphones are designed with the lifestyles of our users in mind and seamlessly integrating social networking features in our handsets will enable LG smartphone owners to be more accessible and better connected," said Dr Skott Ahn, president and chief executive officer of LG Electronics Mobile Communications.

T-Mobile is offering the GW620 free to consumers who sign up to a 24-month deal at £20 per month and provides them with unlimited texts and data as well as 200 free minutes.

Virgin offers the handset for free for £22 monthly for 18 months, with 250 minutes, unlimited texts and data.

LG plans for the GW620 to be the first of a number of Android devices released this year.
