It's a rare occurrence when mobile phone companies let you know what they have planned for the future, but LG seem to have done that by announcing an event in August.

The firm has openly announced that it will be holding an "international media event" in New York City on August 7 which considerately gives the press a lot of time to make a fuss and clear their diaries.

Earlier in the week, the South Korean manufacturer announced that it would be teaming up with Qualcomm to produce a heavily-powered device to succeed the Optimus G.

This New York event could be the perfect platform to unveil such a device or at least the prototype for one.

Nothing has been confirmed, but as August 7th gets closer, you can bet more people will be having their guesses as to what LG is planning.
