One South Korean handset manufacturer has announced details of a campaign that mobile recycling customers with teenage kids may welcome.

With a wide selection of devices on the market like the LG GD510 Pop and KM900 Arena, the company is now hoping to raise awareness about how they can sometimes be used inappropriately.

The programme, which has been named Give It a Ponder, asks teens and tweens to think twice before sending gossip-based or abusive text messages and refrain from passing on explicit images.

Ehtisham Rabbani, vice-resident of product strategy and marketing at the group, said the move was a matter of acting responsibly.

“As the leading manufacturer of texting devices, LG is committed to creating a credible and impactful program that promotes responsible mobile phone use among young adults,” he added.

The LG KM900 Arena was launched in February this year and has since been followed up by other touch-enabled devices like the GD510 Pop.
