The corporate world will be dominated this evening (October 4th) by the anticipated launch of the iPhone 5 by technology manufacturer Apple.

Nigel Hawthorn, vice-president of marketing in Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Blue Coat Systems, has had his say on the event.

He predicted it will be of such a huge scale that it will dominate corporate bandwidth provisions and overload the network.

“With the announcement, it looks like we’re going to be told that there’s a new version of iOS, there’s a new version of iTunes and probably therefore a complete iPhone and iPad software update,” Mr Hawthorn suggested.

He warned businesses using corporate networks tonight to expect them to be packed with traffic linked to the exciting event in California.

The iPhone 5 will follow in the footsteps of predecessors such as the iPhone 4 and 3GS, as well as Apple’s signature tablet device the iPad.
