A new partnership with Qualcomm could allow Russian manufacturer Yota Devices to bring its dual-screen mobile phone to the UK.
This innovative handset combines a more traditional LCD screen – ideal for playing games and watching movies – alongside an e-ink display.
Generally found on digital reader devices like the Amazon Kindle, this technology makes prolonged reading far easier on the eyes.
It also makes enjoying novels outside, such as at the park or on the beach, far easier, as the sun does not glare from the screen.
Multimedia stores, such as Apple's App Store and Google Play for Android, already have impressive libraries of books, but many shun their iPhone for a dedicated gadget.
Over the years, developments in the mobile phone industry meant devices like alarm clocks, cameras and calculators have become almost obsolete to many.
Broader availability of this new hybrid Yota handset could see more consumers ditch their e-reader too.
