Mobile phone customers with Nokia may be set for a significant improvement in the service they receive from the Finnish company.

It is to acquire Motally Inc, a San Francisco-based business that specialises in providing mobile analytics.

This can help mobile companies optimise the output they produce and help with the development of in-application tracking and reporting.

“The acquisition underpins Nokia’s drive to deliver in-application and mobile web browsing analytics to Ovi’s growing, global eco-system of developers and publishers,” states Marco Argenti, vice-president of media at Nokia.

Many of the hundreds of apps to be available to Nokia customers through its Ovi Store could be among those to be upgraded, while the firm may also be in a position to create improved downloads.

Motally Inc says it is backed by a number of “world-class investors” at its US base, many of whom have significant experience in the mobile industry.
