Despite the introduction of many mobile phones to compete with the hugely popular iPhone, the Apple product remains the most successful smartphone.
Apple has largely been credited with reinventing the smartphone market when it introduced the first version of its flagship device.
This broke the years of tedium in which Windows Mobile and Symbian struggled to innovate in such a way to excite consumers.
The travails of Symbian were so deeply entrenched that Nokia last year decided to abandon the operating system for Windows Phone OS in an attempt to gain a foothold in the market.
Editor of Smartphoneblogging.com Shapur Azizpour said manufacturers using Android operating system are starting to claw back the popularity of the iPhone series.
“Even though Android devices’ overall sales figures already surpassed Apples iOS on most markets, the iPhone is still the most successful smartphone worldwide,” he continued.
