Apple's upcoming iPhone, expected in June this year (2014), had been the subject of rumours even before the iPhone 5S was launched. However, a new report suggests that the two devices could be connected.

According to Japanese blog Macotakara, Apple has still to decide between a 4.7-inch and a 5.7-inch display for the iPhone 6, maybe suggesting that it could come with a mini or max version like Samsung's flagships.

As far as design goes, the website reckons that Apple will reference its back catalogue and it will be a hybrid of the iPhone 5C and the seventh-generation iPod nano.

The Japanese blog has a pretty good track record when it comes to predicting what the Cupertino company is going to do. The report also supports previous rumours that the iPhone 6 will be the biggest smartphone to be released by Apple.

According to the source, both versions of the handset will have the same rounded back edges, volume and mute buttons as the company's current flagship, the iPhone 5C.
