Apple's latest instalment of the iPhone is expected to be released in the third quarter of 2012 and is likely to adopt in-cell touch panels rolled out by Sharp and Toshiba Mobile Display (TMD).

Sources at the firm told DigiTimes that the iPhone 5 Sharp will produce the in-cell panels at its 5.5G lines, while TMD will use its 6G lines for production of the mobile phone.

News of the possible launch date will come as good news to consumers around the world as editor of Shapur Azizpour recently noted that everyone is anticipating the launch of the new device.

Sources told the news provider that an improvement in yield rates of the in-cell touch panels at Sharp and TMD have persuaded Apple to cooperate with the panel makers.

"The adoption of the in-cell touch panels, if realised, will also have a significant impact on the operations of Apple's current touch panel suppliers TPK Holdings and Wintek," sources were reported to have said.
