A leak of the latest Windows Phone 8-powered mobile phone, the Huawei Ascend W2, has appeared online.

The specifications indicate a device that will target the higher end of the smartphone market. If the rumours are to be believed the new handset will sport a 1.5 Ghz Qualcomm S4 processor with 1 GB of RAM and an eight mega-pixel camera, which will support HD recording.

The display is expected to be a 4.3-inch 1280 x 720 screen run by a 2,000 mAh battery, according to the images leaked on the xda-developers forum.

The upcoming handset's predecessor was only released earlier this year, but targeted a more mid-range audience. The Chinese manufacturer looks like it may be trying to shift to appeal to more high-end customers with this new model.

Users can expect the price for the Huawei Ascend W2 to be in the region of £190, which is still a fairly modest price considering what some competitors retail their handsets for.

Eager customers should take the news with a pinch of salt as nothing has been confirmed by the company yet and the leak suggested the release date as November 15th 2012, which has definitely come and gone.
