Manufacturers seem to never stop releasing new mobile phones and HTC appears to be following suit.

Although the company has only just released its HTC One, reports have surfaced that the Taiwanese manufacturer is planning an updated version of the flagship for release this year.

This updated handset is only known by the codename M8 for the time being, which seems to be plausible as the HTC One was originally known as the M7 before it got its release name.

Information comes from a report via Pocket Lint, who claims to have connections with an unknown source, although no more information was given away. The site predicted that a major hardware overhaul may be on the cards, which could be related to the processor or its features like the HTC Sense UI.

Although we haven't been given a lot of information, 2013 is heading into its second half, so we shouldn't have much longer to wait for some more details if it is released this year.
