Consumers thinking of trading in their mobile phones and investing in a different model are likely to consider HTC, after the brand's position at the top of the US market was confirmed.
New research by Canalys has found that in the third quarter of 2011, HTC rose to the number one position in the States.
HTC is said to have shipped 5.7 million smartphones in the three-month period, helping it to edge out the likes of Apple and Samsung in the race for top spot.
Chris Jones, vice-president and principal analyst at Canalys, said: "This is an awesome achievement for HTC, which has built a premium brand in a highly competitive market in just a few short years."
Samsung was second in the table of providers, followed by Apple, while Research in Motion – which produces BlackBerry devices – is said to have endured a poor quarter.
Three this week confirmed it is adding the HTC Sensation XL with Beats Audio to its portfolio of mobile phones.
