HTC has sent out an email to its newsletter subscribers and put a notification on its website letting customers know about a countdown to February 19th.

Each time the number one rolls around on the online seconds timer, teaser images, possibly showing an upcoming mobile phone, flash up in the background.

The manufacturer has scheduled a press event to take place on this date in New York, and many technology industry commentators expect the handset, codenamed M7, to be unveiled.

Speculation surrounding this release has indicated that the brand name would actually be the HTC One, and the countdown’s affiliation with the number seems to support this suggestion.

Other rumours claim that the smartphone will feature a 4.7-inch HD display alongside a 13-megapixel camera and 32 GB of storage.

Buyers could benefit from smooth and speedy performance if the alleged quad-core processor and Android Jelly Bean operating system specifications are accurate.
