Companies that produce smartphones have been advised by one expert from HTC to ensure their products are entirely relevant.

Dr Florian Seiche, a senior executive at the firm, said he is concerned that too many developments in the market could make consumers a little tired.

As a result, manufacturers have a responsibility to make sure they only provide the very best in every department.

“For us, success is to provide something extra and to convince people that it is still relevant,” Dr Seiche stated, adding that simply ticking all the boxes is no good.

He predicted that 70 per cent of all new devices sold in the UK this year will be smartphones so it is important to convince those without such a model they must get one.

One high-profile smartphone release is that of the iPhone 4S, which is due out today (October 14th) with 200 brand new features compared with previous models.
