HP has confirmed that it is developing a new handset that will give users a completely “unique” mobile phone experience.

Senior director of consumer PCs and media tablets for Asia Pacific Yam Su Yin has announced that it is working on numerous devices, and when asked about the possibility of an upcoming smartphone, revealed that there was such a handset on the way.

She told the Indian Express that although she could say there would be a mobile handset from the manufacturer in the future she “cannot give a timetable” but admitted that HP needs to “be in the game”.

The expert added that being late to release a smartphone product meant that it had to give users something different to get noticed. She said: “When HP has a smartphone, it will give a differentiated experience.”
