Those looking to recycle mobilephones to fund a new handset may be interested in the latest development for the iPhone 3G and T Mobile G1.

Google has announced this week that it has enhanced its email offering for both the Apple multimedia gadget and all other Android-powered devices – which in the UK is still just the HTC-built G1.

Among the changes are an improved interface for Google’s Gmail and Calendar applications and the introduction of a Floaty Bar – designed to keep actions like archive and delete close to hand.

"With the new Calendar, you can edit or respond to an event and, like Gmail, the app is accessible even without a network connection," the search engine company explained in a recent blog post.

Other applications to appear on the Apple iPhone 3G this week include new software from Sky+ which allows users to access their set-top box at home and record programmes.
