Details of what Google has in store for mobile phones with its Maps redesign may have been revealed a week before the big company I/O event next week.

Rumours have been circulating that the company had a massive rethink on the cards for the location feature, but it was expected a big reveal would be made at the Google press meeting that kicks off on May 15th.

However, screenshots from Google System Blog may have ruined the firm’s surprise as images have been published about the supposed redesign.

If the design is real then Google+ will be combined with the interface to give users recommendations based on people in your circles.

One of the biggest alterations appears to be a new full-screen view, as well as several other changes.

The sidebar has been replaced by pop-ups that will appear when you need them along with new colour schemes and icons.

Although this could all be fake and people will have to stay tuned into the Google I/O conference next week to find out the company’s official plans.
