The new Samsung Galaxy Nexus is no longer available for purchase from the Google Play website amid a proposed ban on sales of it in the US.

In April, Google began selling unlocked versions of the mobile phone from its own store from $399 (£255) and then just six days ago this was dropped to $349.

Now the phone is listed as coming soon on Google's website, which could be because the firm is simply updating the handsets to Android Jelly Bean or it may be as a result of the preliminary injunction granted against it, The Verge reports.

Last week, US District Court judge Lucy Koh banned the sales of both the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Galaxy Nexus on the grounds that they were unfairly competing in the mobile phone market.

Google last week announced that its Android Jelly bean operating system will debut on the Asus-designed Nexus 7 tablet and will begin rolling out to other devices in the near future.
