Social media guru Mark Zuckerburg unveiled his Facebook Home for Android mobile phones yesterday (April 4th).

The new feature acts more like part of the phone than a traditional app does, as it replaces the lock screen and home screen with the website's "Cover Feed".

It works essentially the same way as an operating system would, working in the background of the phone.

From April 12th, when it is officially launched, Android users will be able to download it from Google Play store. Customers will be able to choose whether to use it continuously or just once to try it out.

The feature will be on the HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S3, the Galaxy Note 2 and future devices including the highly-anticipated Galaxy S4 and HTC's upcoming flagship phone the First.

The HTC First will be the only device that will have Facebook Home preloaded.

Mr Zuckerburg said he wanted to give users "a deeper experience than an app" and that the company is working on making the feature available for tablets.
