Facebook Home is set to launch for Android mobile phones on April 12th, but has been leaked as a beta version ahead of the launch on Google Play.

The released version was published by MoDaCo and surprisingly the Android application package file (APK) works on a range on Android devices that weren't stated by either Facebook or HTC. It also works on the Nexus 4 and 7 tablets.

The beta feature does require a maximum 1280×768 screen resolution and users will have to uninstall their Facebook app as well.

The leak does have restrictions, as you would expect from something that is in the beta stage, the Chat Heads feature doesn't work and there are a few bugs, but the Cover feed seems to function as intended, according to various technology-keen bloggers who have tried it for themselves.

MoDaCo has warned to those interested in testing the beta version that users "do so at your own risk" as these early versions of software can be risky.
