A writer has spoken of the significant and varied advantages of mobile recycling and urged more consumers to take advantage of it when switching devices.
Ian, author of the latest article for Nokia Conversations, said experts at the firm hope for as many people as possible to go green when disposing of handsets.
Indeed, the brand even offers a mobile recycling point to persuade customers it is the right thing to do.
He noted the more used phones that are reused, the less the world will have to be mined for new components, energy and materials.
Ian also suggested models that make it into specialist mobile recycling points – such as Mazuma's – can be 100 per cent recycled.
Of course, many consumers may also find the financial benefits of the practice to be rewarding, with a significant cash sum on offer for many phones.
Those who dispose of a handset in a green way and are on the lookout for a new mobile could choose the Nokia Astound, which has been released this week.
