Mobile recycling is sometimes used to pay for the latest phones and one expert’s comments this week may encourage more people to do just that.

According to a spokesman for Recombu, an online portal that offers prices and reviews for handsets like the Apple iPhone 3G S, certain gadgets have changed the way we shop.

Tom Newton explained the aforementioned model was just one example of how modern technology had intervened in our retail and leisure practices and is an example of a technology that is now “here to stay”.

“Virtually all of the major networks and mobile manufacturers have launched or are working on some form of app store or online music, film [or] content portal,” he added.

It was announced this week that the iPhone 3G, along with the iPod Touch, had helped Apple to register over two billion downloads via its online widget shop the App Store.
