Consumers looking to sell mobilephones for an Apple iPhone 3G will benefit from recent announcements regarding the device, one expert has claimed.

According to Mobile Choice spokeswoman Natasha Stokes, with extra carriers having taken away O2’s exclusivity, increased competition in the market could only be good news for buyers.

As editor of the news resource, she explained the networks involved were dealing with a device that was highly desirable and would therefore want to use this to attract as many customers as possible.

Ms Stokes went on to say that consumers already signed up to O2 could start to look at what else is available to them if the new operators are able to come up with some tempting deals.

"I think this would depend on whether Orange offers the iPhone on better value contracts and if those prices are competitive enough to start a price war," she concluded.

Vodafone made the announcement that it would stock the device in early 2010 one day after Orange’s press release on September 28th.
