People in the UK thinking of trading in their mobile phones and upgrading to a superior model might find that the run-up to next year's Olympics is their ideal opportunity to do so.
With the Games due to come to London in 2012, one expert has suggested that the country's network will benefit as a result.
Steve Reynolds, president of the Mobile Data Association, said the sporting event will put significant pressure on mobile infrastructure around the nation.
"Everybody is going to want to use the phone when 11.8 million ticket holders and visitors land on us. Obviously the network is going to have to deal with that," he explained.
The good news is that Mr Reynolds is confident that work has already started on enhancing the coverage on offer in the UK.
Due to begin on July 27th next year, the Olympic Games will run for more than two weeks in east London and other locations.
