The prospect of Vodafone customers being able to trade-in their mobile phone and upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 appeared to move closer to reality this week, says an expert.

Stuart Dredge, writing for CNET UK, explains a post on the company's official Facebook page hints it is about to add the model to its portfolio.

Vodafone used the social networking site to add a link to a page about the upcoming handset.

"Why would an operator ask its customers if they're thinking of picking up a Galaxy Tab 2, if it's not planning to sell the device? Well, that's the question," muses Mr Dredge.

Those who do not feel they want to make the switch from a mobile to a tablet can look forward to the release of the Samsung Galaxy S 2 smartphone, which is due to be launched at Mobile World Congress.

Three has today (February 11th) announced it is to stock three new tablet devices in its range, including the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
