The emergence of mobile payments has seen it become a big business throughout the world and one of the major reasons for this is its convenience.
Head of mobile and corporate payments at PrePay Solutions Aoife Hurley said handsets offer a useful alternative to cash for small purchases.
Founder and chief executive officer of mPowa.com Dan Wagner recently suggested that the implementation of apps that facilitate mobile payments are likely to encourage more people to use smartphones in the future.
Ms Hurley said using your mobile can help to enhance the payment experience. With a greater marketing push, people will have a better understanding of the potential benefits of using their mobile device.
"Convenience is a major plus point. Speed is also a major factor, particularly for transport and ticketing," she said, before adding that payment for things such as Oyster Cards "will be faster and more convenient".
