Carphone Warehouse will sell five smartphones for less than £100 as part of a Christmas promotion.

This means that shoppers can buy modern gadgets for their loved ones to unwrap on December 25th at a reasonable price.

The cheapest on offer will be the Alcatel OT903, which will cost from £26.96, according to Mobile Magazine.

Google's Android Gingerbread operating system powers the device, meaning users can access over 700,000 applications on the Google Play virtual store.

Those who would prefer a gadget with physical buttons might opt for the BlackBerry Curve 9320, which has a QWERTY keyboard.

Customers can get their hands on the Samsung Galaxy Ace from £71.96 – the sixth most popular smartphone in November, according to the uSwitch Mobile Tracker.

Shoppers can also get a colourful Nokia Lumia 610 Windows Phone handset, which has a 3.7-inch touch-screen, from the same price.

These devices may make a fantastic introduction into the smartphone world for somebody who currently has an old mobile phone.
