New BlackBerry software will now make access to email even easier.

With more people selling their old mobile phones and replacing them with smartphones, the introduction of BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express will allow more small and mid-sized businesses to give their employees secure access to their work email accounts.

The release of BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express was announced by Research In Motion (RIM) this week.

RIM, a designer, manufacturer and marketer of wireless solutions, believes that the new product is an exciting development for the BlackBerry platform.

Mike Lazaridis, president and co-chief executive offiicer of RIM, said: “BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express significantly raises the bar by providing a cost-effective solution that allows companies of all sizes to support enterprise-grade mobile connectivity”.

The software will be available as a free download from March.

Last month, Chalk Media Service, a subsidiary of RIM, announced the release of software enabling secure delivery of audio and video content to BlackBerries.
