Gadget lovers with Android mobile phones will now be able to take advantage of the BBC Sport app, and keep up with the latest news on-the-go.

Developers have released the tool on the virtual multimedia storefront Google Play, following earlier release for Apple iPhone owners on the App Store.

Those with gadgets like the Samsung Galaxy S3, LG Nexus 4, HTC One X+ and Sony Xperia Z are therefore able to download for free.

Users will be presented with the top news stories of the day on the app home screen, or explore their favourite sports in more depth by accessing the different categories.

Fans of the beautiful game will be able to look up football fixtures for the season ahead, or check out results from previous matches.

Those who can’t make it to the ground can even check out the live commentaries from BBC journalists while they are out and about, so they never miss out on the action.
