Those looking to upgrade used phones for a new Apple iPhone 3G or BlackBerry may be buoyed by the details of a new survey.

Both of these have access to a dedicated application for social networking site Facebook – which has announced this week that it has reached a “milestone” number of users.

The group behind the facility explained that users of Facebook Mobile had now topped the 65 million mark, with 20 million of these new users having signed up in the last eight months.

It was noted on the social network’s official blog that this had been boosted by the number of languages and phones it was now compatible with.

“[We have] deployed a wide range of applications for hundreds of mobile handsets, including Facebook for Blackberry, Facebook for iPhone and Facebook for Nokia,” it concluded.

A recent study from O2 showed 76 per cent of mums were now using the site, while 56 said they are the family member that controls the TV.
