A mobile phone version of the hit Football Manager 2013 game will be released on Google Play and the App Store from midnight (00:00 GMT December 13th).

The game is therefore compatible with the majority of smartphones, including Apple iPhone handsets and the popular Samsung Galaxy S3 and Google Nexus 4 devices.

Football Manager is a simulation game franchise, which allows the player to take on the persona of a squad boss.

Developers Sports Interactive first released it for Windows PCs and Macintosh computers, but following versions were adapted for consoles including the Xbox 360 and the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP).

In the latest instalment, gamers will be able to unlock achievements and share their latest results with friends via Twitter.

The creators have also ensured that player and competition information is up-to-date, and there are even photographs of some of the squad members.

In-app purchases can provide extra gameplay time – mobile phone owners can unlock the Austerity Measures Challenge to see if they can be victorious with a smaller budget.
