Pre-order stock for the Apple iPhone 5 on the company's US website was apparently sold-out within one hour.
Despite widespread criticism of the device after many were expecting more innovation from the technology giant, reports state that this is the fastest sell-out to date.
Customers in the UK are also facing delays due to stock depletion. The new handset was released for pre-order on the UK Apple Store at 08:00 September 14th. The website currently states that all versions of the iPhone 5 will be dispatched in two to three weeks.
Customers who missed out on pre-ordering and want to get their hands on the device on its launch day of September 21st will need to join the huge queues expected outside Apple stores across the nation.
Fans of the iPhone manufacturer are renowned for camping outside the retail establishments days before a new device is set for release.
Official pre-order and sales figures should be released soon.
