For the first time, smartphone owners are utilising more mobile data than those with tablets, and Apple iPhone 5 users are consuming most.
Arieso’s findings indicate that internet habits seem to be changing as handsets and networks become more sophisticated.
Tablet computers tend to have seven or ten-inch screens, making it easy to browse the web, read emails, watch videos and play games.
The ever-increasing size of mobile phone displays could therefore be contributing to their growing popularity – the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 device’s is 5.5 inches.
Release of Long Term Evolution (LTE) or 4G networks could also be drawing more mobile customers, since the high speeds make consuming data on-the-go quicker and easier than ever.
Findings also demonstrate that Samsung Galaxy S3 users generate more data than those with the latest iPhone gadget.
This suggests that the owners are more likely to share photographs and videos captured with their device through social networks like Facebook and Twitter.
