It was recently reported that Chinese company Proview was seeking a ban on the sales and shipments of Apple products in and out of the country but it now appears this hope has been dashed.

China's customs authorities were effectively asked to make a choice between Apple's products and one of their own country's companies with the electronics conglomerate coming out on top, according to the chief executive of Proview.

Yang Long-san told Reuters that customs officials have told the company that a ban would be difficult to implement because so many consumers like Apple mobile phones.

"The sheer size of the market is very big. We have applied to some local customs for the ban and they'll report to the headquarters in Beijing," the chief executive was reported as saying.

This dispute centres around the use of the name iPad and Proview had initially won a judgement in a mainland Chinese court over the issue last year.
