In the US, Android has become the market leader in the operating system provider sector, which could make it the preferred choice of those who sell mobiles in order to switch to another device.

Nielsen has revealed in its Mobile Insights report for August that 43 per cent of consumers in the States now own a phone that runs on the platform.

Meanwhile, 56 per cent of those who bought a new model in the three months leading up to August chose Android.

The research body noted that the recent purchase statistics are usually an indicator of the short-term future of a market, suggesting the operating system is set for a boom.

If this is to be the case, many people might be prepared to sell mobiles in order to join the Android revolution.

Another benefit for users of the system was revealed earlier this month when Samsung confirmed the launch of its Premium Samsung Apps Store for Android, containing a huge number of downloads.
