Recent figures show that Android, not only still has a comfortable lead on the mobile phone market, but it has increased the distance between it and its closest rivals.
Gartner statistics show that the operating system now has a 79 per cent share of the market, which puts it further ahead of its nearest rivals.
Apple's share reduced from 18.8 per cent to 14.2 per cent in the second quarter of 2013, while Google-powered devices accounted for 64.2 per cent of sales in the same period.
However, Android isn't the only company that has enjoyed a successful last quarter, Microsoft is improving its stake on the market as Windows Phone 8 is becoming increasingly popular.
Last year, the operating system fell behind BlackBerry, but has managed to inch its way into the competition as the Canadian manufacturer was only able to generate 2.7 per cent of the market.
