The Acer CloudMobile S500 mobile phone is now available in the UK.

The device was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in February and online retailer Expansys now has the SIM-free handset in stock.

The gadget was awarded the IF product design award 2012 for its metallic, nine millimetre-thin casing with an aesthetically pleasing curved top and bottom.

AcerCloud technology allows the new mobile phone to connect with the manufacturer’s other devices like laptops and tablet computers.

It is powered by Google Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. This is one version behind the latest Jelly Bean firmware.

For a smartphone packing a 4.3-inch HD screen, 1.5 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of memory, it is reasonably priced at £289.99.

By comparison, the Motorola Razr i costs £344.99 on the same website. This gadget was released on October 1st and has similar specs, aside from a faster, 2 GHz processor.
