Windows Phone will overtake Google Android

26/06/2012

Windows Phone has been fighting a losing battle against the much more powerful Google Android and iOS in recent times but analysts have suggested that this could be only temporary.

The operating system (OS) was given a huge boost last year when mobile phone giant Nokia stopped using its own Symbian OS in favour of the Windows platform.

However, uptake has been slow thus far, leading some to question Microsoft's power in the market.

Independent software development consultant, trainer and author Matthew Baxter-Reynolds believes that Windows Phone will be strong in the industry soon enough though.

Analysts at IDC also recently predicted that the OS will be in such a position of strength by 2016 that it will overtake Apple.

"I think the long term view in the established western market is that we will see Android become far less interesting and Windows Phone become far more interesting," Mr Baxter-Reynolds added.
