Windows Phone To Carry Voice Activation?

Microsoft have been toying with the idea of including voice commands in its mobile phone software for a while - named Cortana - but new information suggests that the Windows giant is getting closer.

According to LiveSino.net, which has captured a Cortana icon set from the Windows Phone 8.1 SDK, the Cortana voice assistant will be able to do basic things like online searches and setting alarms.

The Siri-rival will also make appointments, give you stock information and warn you of heavy traffic, as well as being able to set reminders and turn settings - such as Bluetooth or Wi-Fi - on or off.

Apple has spent time improving and updating Siri and the voice assistant, along with Google Now, have been well taken up by users, and with the recent push Microsoft has been making to try and get more handsets running Windows Phone, it's a sensible move for the technology giant to try and be on an even field with its rivals.
