Windows Phone To Battle Blackberry For Bronze OS Spot

Technology industry experts believe that the Google Android operating system will continue to be the most popular worldwide at the end of 2012.

IDC believes that a partnership with numerous mobile phone manufacturers is helping the software to achieve such impressive market penetration.

Samsung's Android Galaxy S3 smartphone, which was released in May, has been one of the most successful in 2012 after a number of awards and impressive sales figures.

Analysts think that Apple's iOS will remain in the second spot, since the iPhone range continues to be perhaps the most iconic and popular in the world.

However, the bronze position could be hotly contested, as both BlackBerry and Windows Phone are close rivals.

Microsoft recently released Windows Phone 8 software, which HTC, Nokia, Huawei and Samsung have adopted.

Research in Motion (RIM) is set to roll out its new BlackBerry 10 (BB10) firmware early next year, following a number of delays.
