Will Mobile Phone Users Demand 3.5G Coverage?

The arrival and fine-tuning of a 3.5G network is something mobile phone fans may rate particularly highly, if one expert is to be believed.

Conrad Longmore, editor of Mobile Gazette, says many would perhaps prefer Everything Everywhere to be investing in the next-generation service instead of its long-term evolution plan.

The company, which is the result of T-Mobile and Orange joining forces, aims to provide a "multinet" world, offering instant access to features from anywhere.

But Mr Longmore believes this may only appeal to a small number of users and an upgrade to 3.5G could have been more beneficial.

"Many customers would probably be more interested in Everything Everywhere improving their 3.5G coverage first, rather than spend a very large sum of money on something that very few people can take advantage of," he says.

Everything Everywhere recently revealed people signed up to either T-Mobile or Orange will, from October 5th, be able to use the network of both firms, ensuring calls and text messages can be completed from even more locations.
